Dr. Karasik always wanted to be a pediatrician. He majored in Biological Sciences with a concentration in Genetics and Development at Cornell University. After receiving his medical degree at SUNY Downstate Medical Center, he completed his pediatric training at New York University and Bellevue Hospital Center.

Prior to joining Clarkstown Pediatrics in 1992, he completed a fellowship in Genetics and Dysmorphology at Albert Einstein College of Medicine and Montefiore Medical Center. The perpetual student, Dr. Karasik earned his Master of Public Health degree in May of 2011 and is currently pursuing a Certificate in Global Health and a Doctorate in Public Health at New York Medical College, where he also precepts first year medical students.

Dr. Karasik is fluent in Spanish. He is a dedicated runner and enjoys spending his free time with his son, daughter, and their beagle.

He has served on the board of the Rockland Alliance for Health.

He recently completed a medical mission to Nyanza Province in Kenya and is currently organizing activities to further SHARE’s healthcare initiatives in the region.
