Youth from 28 schools in western Kenya have submitted artwork that has been going online at the CITYarts project in the online exhibition. The following link will take you to the Kenya exhibition.
In addition to fantastic artwork, some of our sponsored orphans and their fellow students have created incredible poems and writings about what peace means to them.
About Pieces for Peace
SHARE was introduced to the CITYarts program, ‘Young Minds Build Bridges,’ and their project called Pieces for Peace Mosaic with Youth from Around the World. The project is a Peace Wall, with works in New York and Pakistan; a traveling exhibition that has been to the US, Germany, Spain, Egypt and Israel; and an online exhibition of artwork from youth in countries all throughout the world available to everyone online.
CITYarts designed this project to build bridges of cultural understanding and to encourage youth to become active participants in shaping their future. While Pieces for Peace is new to SHARE, it has been around for quite some time.
In 2005, CITYarts celebrated its 37th year with the ‘Pieces for Peace Mosaic with Youth from Around the World’ at the Jacob H. Schiff Playground in Harlem, New York. It is still going strong and now has artwork from more than 33 countries worldwide.
