SHARE received a substantial donation of EMS books and was able to quickly send enough for the start of this class with the assistance of Major George W. Mason of the Disaster Management and Response Training wing of the International Mine Action Training Centre funded by the UK DFID. Major Mason has been assisting Bethuel in developing the training component of the KCEMT with equipment and resources.

“Having these books for our students is so important – in the past they have taken notes on paper with no other resources to study from or to understand why we’re doing what we’re doing” says Bethuel.

The books reached the program just in time for it’s start. To make sure they have books for future classes, well into the next few years, SHARE has shipped 4 palates of EMS books on their latest shipping container of equipment and supplies.

SHARE has been working to develop the EMS system in Kenya for the past number of years. Aside the KCEMT and others who are helping to develop the EMS system, like David Stallings and Scott Smalley who are working with Bethuel on prehospital training, all of the components needed for a successful EMS system will be in place sooner rather than later.
