“We badly need a school bus to bring our orphans from various villages in western Kenya to our schools,” said Usha Wright, President and Chairman of SHARE. “The school bus will also allow our social workers to visit the children and their guardians, to check on those children waiting to enter the program, to transport the children to clinics and for many other purposes.”

New City Patch carried an article titled Orphans And The Bus To A Better Place reporting on this event. Read it here »

Ms. Wright said that Dr. MacGuffie would be pleased that SHARE was including a fundraiser into a program to honor her life because these children were a central focus of her life’s work. Of the many programs that SHARE has been involved with, none was more important to Dr. MacGuffie than the SHARE Orphan Sponsorship program.

A wine and cheese party will be followed by a memorable performance by Rockland Symphony Orchestra conductor and founder Edward Simons along with other musicians from the Symphony. A movie recalling the many highlights of Dr. MacGuffie’s life will be screened at the event. An additional performance of Kenyan music and a silent auction will close the afternoon.

Journal News carried an informative article titled SHARE benefit concert will double as tribute to Dr. Martha MacGuffie describing this event. Read it here »
