SHARE ANNUAL DINNER & GOLF FUNDRAISER
Thanks to the hard work of SHARE volunteers and the generosity of our supporters, the annual SHARE Dinner & Golf fundraiser was a success again this year. We had a record turnout! A large source of the fundraising comes from the items auctioned which included donated weeks or weekends at homes or apartments at ski and beach locations. We had a number of attendees generously bid on these fabulous destinations. If you have such a location that you can donate for a period of time, please keep us in mind for the 2023 outing next September.
Here are some of the photos from this year’s event. https://tinyurl.com/SHAREGolf2022 As you can see by these photos, this event is always a fun time had by all!
HOLIDAY GIFTS FROM SPONSORS TO THEIR ORPHANS
Every year many sponsors ask if they can provide gifts for their sponsored orphans. A donation of twenty-five to fifty dollars sent to SHARE, with a note that it is for your sponsored orphan, will be forwarded on your behalf. Our social workers will take the children shopping and will send you photos of the children receiving the gifts. Such gifts are greatly appreciated by the children, who have very little and who have used the funds for everything from additional food and clothing to purchasing a goat so that a guardian’s family can have milk. You can send a gift to your sponsored orphan here.
CONTINUED MEDICAL ASSISTANCE
SHARE’s medical director, Dr. Jeff Karasik, will be heading out on his annual trip to Kenya in early December. This year he will focus on ways to expand our mobile clinic program which provides outreach by healthcare volunteers, many of whom are trained by Jeff and are guided by SHARE’s staff nurse. He will also be continuing training in the various programs he has started that bring important care to both SHARE sponsored orphans and the local community.
In addition to the Helping Babies Survive program, which has reduced infant mortality in the area, Jeff also recently helped to institute an obstetrical program and a mental health program, both of which are beginning to show important results.
DENTAL PROGRAM AND FUNDRAISER
In late November, a volunteer dental group will again be heading to Kenya. This group of four people from the U.S. and India is headed by Dr. V. J. Singh, who resides in Connecticut. All of the sponsored orphans will be seen, and the dental care will also be available to the local community. For our friends in Connecticut, Dr. Singh will be running a fund raiser on 10/29.
